Yellow Jacket 3M RES Sailplane

Description

The Yellow Jacket 3M is designed for electric or bungee launching.  It can also be launched using a winch by tapping.  As a lightweight structure its not intended for full pedal winch launching however it has proven to be a robust model that will take plenty of everyday use.

The 3M is currently shipping with the CLM Pro 131 fuse set and a Lite Weight Boom.  This set includes a Kevlar/Carbon Pod, Carbon Fiber Boom, and V-Mount.  Two servo trays are available, one under hatch sized for Hitec HS82 servos and an optional under wing tray sized for KST Daviga DS313 Digital servos.  The under wing tray also has provision to secure the receiver.  This is prefered for electric in order to keep the area under the hatch open for battery access and balance.

The standard motor mounts are for a 34mm spinner.  The 34mm compared to a 32mm improves wire clearance using an outrunner motor

Contents

The kit contains the materials and instructions to build the complete structure.  Adhesives, covering, push rods clevises, and basic tools, electrical components are not included.  All laser cut parts are completely cut out and grouped so the builder does not have to cut parts from a sheet.  Parts are organized to simplify preparation and assembly.

The 3M now includes .050 CF Push Rods and PTFE Tubing

The elevator is designed to Dr Drela’s HT12 airfoil and includes leading edge templates for accurate shaping

When ordering please specify in the notes area electric or line launch.  If electric 32mm or 34mm motor mount.  The electric kit will get the under wing servo tray unless specified otherwise.  Line launch will get a tow hook and forward mount servo tray cut for HS82’s.  It is desirable to shift the servo weight forward for a line launch model.
