USPS Shipping

This week USPS had a significant price increase on boxes over 20″ and 30″.  For example boxes over 30″ in length now have an additional $15.00 added.  It is a bit alarming to see such a change especially on my 2M kits that require a 36″ box.  I can only assume fuel prices are a large part of the problem which also effects my incoming shipments for materials.  I am verifying the charges and looking for opportunities for reductions prior to processing the payment.

I can only hope the increases are over for awhile

Take Care

2M F3RES V3 Fuse

The journey to reduce drag, weight, and improve efficiency has arrived again.  The 2M F3RES V3 Fuse is now shipping with kits and fuse orders.

A comparison top view of the v2 vs V3.  It has been narrowed to further reduce weight and drag.

Kits now come with two servo trays and the holes are cut in the pod sides for both.  They are each identified as front and rear.  Discard whichever you decide not to use.  The push rod wires are long enough to reach the rear tray.  The push rod set now comes with extra wire that can be silver soldered to extend the wires when using the forward tray.  Shifting the servo weight forward will reduce the nose weight and possibly the use of a lighter battery.

The tow hook bolt/washer area is enlarged in the balsa forward half so the bolt head and washer will be countersunk.  The washer will now clamp directly against the 1/16 ply tow hook reinforcement instead of the balsa for improved clamping force.

There is a new rear upper cross brace with small holes for magnets to provide a means to secure the hatch.   The 1/64 ply reinforcement sides are notched to locate the hatch support.  The magnets are not included.

Rear hatch support with magnets in place

The hatch now has a laser cut in the front to aid with cutting.  The short piece is then glued just behind the nose block.  You will notice its not flush in the center just above the nose block.  This clearance allows the space for front hatch retention.

A piece of 1/64 ply is now included to secure the front hatch.

Component Availability

I am very pleased to announce that Aloft Hobbies has set up recommended component pages on their website showing all the components for each model from the 2M up.  I reached out to Wayne and he graciously offered to do this for us.  I provided a spreadsheet with all the items they carry to provide and excellent starting point.  They should have stock on the recommended motors for the 2M, 3M, and 3.5M shortly.  He is working on the other items and has information on the volume.

From their home page at https://alofthobbies.com/ click the drop down for aircraft, then accessories and replacement parts.  You will see links to pages for each Yellow Jacket.

Yellow Jacket 2M GS Competition

The NEW Competition GS is now added to the Shop for ordering F3RES and F5 Electric

The GS Wing paired with a V-Tail is my latest 2M design.

What’s Different

– Increase square inches 562

– Weight reduction-Single lower trailing edge scalloped from 3/32″ balsa

– Mid panels are longer and tip panels are shorter.  The wing is flatter with 8 degrees at the center to mid and 12 degrees at the mid to tips

– The leading edge is more swept back and elliptical.  The leading edge and trailing edges are flowing subtle curves vs straight.

– Lower EDA of the flatter wing performs excellent with the V-Tail designed to match.  The V-Tail is removable mounted with 4MM CF tubes over 3MM Tubes or Rods.  This sizing makes the V-Tail mounting structure very robust.  The tail is slightly lighter than the conventional tail however in addition one will notice the reduced drag achieved by elimination of a mounting block system.

It flew beautiful at Dave’s Beach right before XMas.  Larry and I had a blast flying our YJ’s in the light NW breeze.

Greg McGill on maiden day 1/24/2020.  Greg produced a wonderful build thread on RCG.  Several areas of the design were inspired by Greg including the scalloped TE, lower EDA (flatter wing) and the small wing tips.

Building Material Shipping

When adding items such as PTFE tubing, Glue, Applicator Tips the shipping cost on this website calculates high as it determine what an individual shipment costs and at times can even be multiples.

When your adding these items to kits in most cases there is no additional shipping cost.  If you order individually and its under 16 oz they can also be shipped USPS First Class at a very reasonable rate.

Please rest assured that I will correct the shipping and you will be charged the correct amount.

If there is a concern please email me.

Items such as the Sig CA and Applicator Tips are very nice products so please do not be discouraged by what the website calculates for shipping if you would like these items.
